“The most profound thing we have to offer our own children is our own healing.” – Anne Lamott

If you are looking for a therapy experience that is strengths-based, collaborative, direct and often leaving space for a bit of sarcasm and humor, than we may be a good fit. I take an eclectic approach to therapy, with a foundational belief that my clients are the experts of their own lives. There is not a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health treatment. I believe in the validity of everyone’s story; I practice through a lens of cultural humility and consider myself an active anti-racist and Queer Ally. I validate and acknowledge the historical trauma, as well as present-day systemic oppression, that is experienced by marginalized identities. I also recognize that these inequities are often at the hands of people who look like me; therefore, therapeutic trust is earned.

I work primarily with adults (18+) specializing in Perinatal Mental Health, trauma and Sex Therapy. I hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) and have several years of experience, leadership and education serving women and birthing individuals through preconception, pregnancy, perinatal loss, infertility, and the spectrum of postpartum mental health complications. This includes the accurate diagnosis and treatment of: Perinatal Depression and Anxiety, Perinatal OCD, Birth Trauma and Perinatal PTSD.

I am DBT-trained and have the background to provide tangible skills and ‘homework,’ if that is a good fit. I am certainly aware that many new parents struggle to find the time to simply shower, much less complete a meditation while soaking in a bubble bath and sipping a warm cup of tea; we can be realistic together in creating a plan that feels supportive and attainable. That being said, for those that are Type-A or Type-A adjacent like myself, or for those that prefer structure, I can certainly support you in that.

I am also EMDR-certified, with specialized training in working with women during pregnancy (if safe and effective to do so) and coping with birth trauma. For those who have survived a Perinatal Mood and/or Anxiety Disorder, we can explore mental health treatment planning for subsequent pregnancies and deliveries, with the goal of preventing a repeat episode or reducing severity and duration of symptoms.

In addition to the above specialties, I have completed the necessary education to provide Sex Therapy and am well-versed in making difficult or uncomfortable conversations tolerable. Rest assured, there is not a sex-related concern or topic I have not encountered and you deserve non-judgmental support. I also have a passion for the research, education and accurate diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in women, including developmental and hormonal implications that are often left unrecognized.

If you happen to still be reading and feel an urge to learn more about me, consider me impressed. It can be challenging to find the right therapeutic fit, it is helpful and protective to do research before getting started. You are welcome to send me an email or set up a phone interview if you have more questions that remain after looking through my bio. I am easiest to reach via email; you are welcome to call and leave a voicemail. Much of my work day is directly serving clients, making the likelihood of playing phone-tag with me quite high.

As for a more personal lens: When I am not wrangling my kids, I am usually found listening to music, attempting something creative or artistic, avoiding the laundry, playing with my floof-baby Murray the Doodle or attempting a variety of exercise-based activities to try to keep me motivated and entertained...such a struggle for those who sit at work all day! I opt towards comedy when it comes to entertainment, I am fairly indoorsy and will rarely pass up a chance to socialize. I do enjoy cheering for the Vikings (when they give me the opportunity) and I am the type to drink my coffee hot through every season. I do enjoy a good podcast, jigsaw puzzle and book, all which are quite mood-dependent. Most importantly, I deeply understand the challenge of finding and maintaining an identity as an individual through the beautiful, but often messy, chaos of parenting. Please know that my above list of quirks and personality traits has not always been easily accessible; you are not alone. You deserve to have support in healing and, most importantly, to find yourself again.
